Being Grateful For The Good Things

Today was a pretty rough day, and the only way to get through it is being grateful for everything that didn’t go wrong.

To Sum Up My Horrible Day

My truck broke down last night, and to fix it is more than it would be to replace it. I don’t have an income, only savings – so my savings are declining now due to replacing or repairing my vehicle. I couldn’t get the work I wanted to get done today, because I was waiting to hear from from the financing company about replacing my vehicle. My son got in trouble at school during lunch, so I had to pick him up. I overstepped my boundaries at my previous place of employment by telling someone to just charge a credit card for an invoice.

All that has really made today a pretty awful day.

In the back of my head though, I kept telling myself that everything is for a reason. I began to feel the way I did when I crashed my car and lost my job in 2012. Also the way I was feeling when I was conned in to “partnering” in a construction business that ended up screwing a bunch of people.

As soon as I realized I was starting to feel this way, I needed to remind myself that although things couldn’t have been much worse, there’s a lot of good going on. I just need to be more aware of being grateful for the good things in my life.

What Am I Being Grateful For?

I started a new website that focuses on gym reviews, and after 1 week of having my directories listed on the website, I’m getting traction. By that I mean, averaging 400 views on Google per week. That’s very impressive. Most websites have to wait at least 3 months before they have 3-4 pages showing up on Google. After only three days, I already had 160 impression on Google. That is a very positive sign that I am being grateful for.

My son needed 4 dentist appointments to complete his long overdue dental work. Thanks to my previous employer, they are keeping my benefits active so that I can actually afford his final visit on Thursday.

My family is coming down in a few weeks to visit for a few days. I don’t get to see them much, so I’m super grateful for that. We’re also going to watch a Winnipeg Jets game, something I was never able to get around to affording to do.

I was able to start working out again. I didn’t want to be out of shape when I started reviewing gyms, so I took advantage of my home gym that I’ve got. Grateful for that!

My girlfriend got a blender for Christmas, and I’m able to make spinach and banana smoothies.

There’s just a lot to be grateful for. Things could be a lot worse, but they aren’t, and that is something that’s worth being grateful for.

I’ll leave you with this

Life is a journey, and I plan to make the best of it. I’m going to continue to pursue what I enjoy, and hope for the best!
